Well folks, the blog may have to take a little backseat for a while as this boy is going back to school! As of three days ago I'm enrolled on a university level short course to complement by job, and will have actual essays to complete.

But don't panic, I'll keep posting, it just means that my reviews will probably be a little less frequent and will occasionally be without the self indulgent meandering prose that precedes the review itself (my page hits will probably go up because of it!).

So without any more waffle (as I have homework to do), on with the review!

This is the second beer I've picked up by Captain Lawrence, following the review of their Effortless Grapefruit IPA back in September, and it's another one from the awesome rotating selection at The Leopold Tavern on Albert Road in Southsea.

It pours an attractive, slightly hazy, amber colour, with a small white head that disappears fast.

The nose is very fruity, with mango, grapefruit, lemon and orange all present.

The taste is not as juicy as the nose suggests, with the fruit that is now present more of a pithy bitterness rather that fruit salad sweetness. Then the malts come through and leave a satisfying bitterness.

Freschester, whilst not the most exciting beer, is a pretty good pale ale, is very easy drinking and would be perfect on a hot summers day.
