So here I go again; after the slightly underwhelming Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout I've managed to get hold of a can of Tailgate's version. Again, it's the awesome fridge at the Leopold Tavern that I have to thank for taking my taste buds well out of their comfort zone!

This from Tailgate pours very dark brown but appears black in the glass and any head is quickly gone.

The nose is appealing, with the peanut butter evident along with sweet biscuit and vanilla.

The mouth feel is slightly disappointing, not as full bodied or velvety as I'd hoped and it's more heavily carbonated that I expected.

The flavour though is much more satisfying than Belching Beaver's effort. The peanut butter, whilst ever so slightly artificial tasting, is far more pronounced and the biscuit notes also follow through from the nose. Then as the initial sweetness fades a perfectly acceptable stout with a satisfying bitter finish is left.

I'm glad I've finally had a chance to try this Peanut Butter Milk Stout from Tailgate. It's got an interesting flavour and is actually pretty drinkable. But when I think about some of the other stouts available, I don't foresee many occasions when this would be the beer I'd opt for.

It's pretty good, just not one that I'd personally rush back to.
